The Ministry of Justice has announced that secure video calling is now available in all public and private prisons in England and Wales, including all young offenders’ institutions. This service was designed, and is operated by Purple Visits, a leading edge technology company which is based in Thetford, Norfolk.
Just as phone calls, letters, and social visits all have a place in our society and a place within the golden thread, we believe Purple Visits does too. Those golden social visits will take you to them, but Purple Visits will bring them back to you.
In 2013, across the UK, self-harm rates in our prisons were teetering just above 22,000, which is a large enough number. In 2016, this had already shot up to over 39,000. Then in 2018, this figure had reached over 55,000, but it gets worse…
The Ministry of Justice, and Purple Visits, understand the importance of family ties, especially during this isolating time, that is why all calls during the crisis will be completely free.
Video calling from Purple Visits are pleased to announce that they are live at HMP Berwyn. The video calling software has in built military grade security, and has the aim to help facilitate family ties whilst keeping prisoners and the public safe.
