At HMP Fosse Way, calls can be started from either side: you can pick a slot in the Purple Visits app, or the person in custody can request one and you accept it in the app.
Video calls at HMP Fosse Way last 60 minutes. Up to 4 people can join from your side, and everyone taking part needs to be verified in the app first.
The Ministry of Justice funds up to 60 minutes a month of free Purple Visits calls at HMP Fosse Way (usually 1 call of 60 minutes), subject to availability — saving the person in custody their PIN phone credit, and saving you the journey to see their face. Free minutes reset on the 1st of each month. Some prisons offer extra calls at their own discretion; families are never charged for calls at HMP Fosse Way.
You need government-issued photo ID (passport, driving licence or CitizenCard), proof of address from the last 3 months, and their prison or hospital number. Registration takes about 15 minutes in the app.
HMP Fosse Way uses Purple Visits. The app is free on the App Store and Google Play. You register once, add the person in custody as a contact and book from your phone.
Yes. Like prison phone calls, video calls are recorded and may be monitored by HMP Fosse Way for security. Purple Visits does not listen to or watch your calls.
